Job Readiness Workshops
Prepare your students for the workplace with the skills they will need in USOR’s Job Readiness Workshop series. During the workshops, USOR Pre-ETS instructors teach students the basic skills necessary for success in the workplace.
The Job Readiness Workshop curriculum was developed and based on USOR need, national research on youth with disabilities and employment as well as input from job clubs. The workshops are designed to educate students with disabilities on career exploration, workplace readiness, self-advocacy, post secondary opportunities and work based learning.
Workshop topics are determined by the Pre-ETS instructor and classroom teacher based on the needs of students in the class. Throughout the workshops, students use a Student Portfolio provided by USOR to take notes, self-evaluate their participation, complete activities related to interviewing and complete a master job application. The curriculum typically runs for 10-weeks, but may be adapted by the Pre-ETS instructor or VR counselor to meet the teacher’s schedule and student needs. Students will also learn about the support and services available through the VR program.
To schedule a Job Readiness Workshop, contact your Pre-ETS Instructor or the vocational rehabilitation counselor liaison for your school. You can find your liaison by visiting https://jobs.utah.gov/usor/vr/services/student/index.html.
