The Office of Homeless Services supports statewide data collection and analysis related to Utahns experiencing or at risk of homelessness and the provision of homeless services. 

Utah Homeless Management Information System

The Utah Homeless Management Information System (UHMIS) is a statewide database that contains person-level data and data on the provision of housing and services to individuals and families at risk of and experiencing homelessness in compliance with federal data standards and regulations. Utah’s three Continuums of Care (CoC)s have designed OHS to manage the system under the governance of the UHMIS Steering Committee. 

Publicly Available Data

A variety of homelessness data is available through the following dashboards:

  • Homelessness Annual Report Dashboard: The Utah Annual Data Report on Homelessness incorporates various data sources, including the System Performance Measures (SPM), Housing Inventory Count (HIC), and Point-in-Times Count (PIT). By examining these reports collectively, we gain a more comprehensive understanding of homelessness in Utah. This dashboard presents data at the State, Continuum of Care (CoC), Local Homeless Council (LHC), and county level.

Additional Data Requests

  • UHMIS Research Requests
    • Any person or entity may request to access UHMIS data so long as that request has no intent to harm
      the people represented in UHMIS data, the data is not available in an existing format that is accessible
      to the researcher, the request is allowable by state and federal code, and sufficient time to process the
      request is provided. 
      • We will send you an email notification as soon as we receive your request
      • We will then review your request to determine if we may legally release the information
      • We will contact you within 10 business days after receiving your request
      • The request may need to be presented to the UHMIS Steering Committee for a decision
