Health Insurance Coverage
Roughly 270,000 Utahns had no health insurance in 2022. With a relatively high uninsurance rate, Utah ranks near the top of states for this metric. However, since the advent of the Affordable Care Act, Utah's uninsured rate has dropped from 14.3 pecent in 2014 to 8.8 percent in 2022. The following visualization is based on data from the US Census Bureau, Small Area Health Insurance Estimates - the only source of data for single-year estimates of health insurance coverage status for all counties in the United States. It also includes five-year estimates from the American Community Survey. Use the tabs for additional detail.
